Iraq Elections, Part 2

My sources have just informed me that I may be eligible to vote in the Iraq Elections.

I am scrambling to get necessary paperwork together and investigate this issue further. I'll let you know what happens.

Tee hee.

*update* Apparently, UN Geneva ID cards don't count as official birth-origin documentation. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Random Culture Clash:

Me: I was talking to my friend in Baghdad, who's a Kurd and--

Dad: He's Sunni.

Me: Yeah, so I was talking to him and--

Dad: But he's Sunni. Kurds are Sunnis.

Me: Uh-huh, so anyways--

Dad: You're friends with a Sunni?

Me: Yep.

Dad: But your family is Shi'ia.

Me: *sigh* How's the weather?

Dad: Cold.

Me: It's not Sunni outside. HEH.

Dad: *silence* Sunnis and Shi'ia don't get along.

Me: Ok. So is it MarHABa or MaHarbra?

Dad: Oh, my daughter is learning her heritage!

*all well and good*

Moral of the story: When debating religious sects within Islam, simply change subject completely.

Yeah, I'm just now watching the replay of Special Report and Brian Wilson's talking to a guy who was born here but his father was born in Iraq and he voted. Lucky you. Getting to vote in two elections.
